Last OtaFest related post for awhile I think. I really just want to give a huge shout-out to this girl who was giving these out. I’m sorry I don’t know who you are, or what you were cosplaying, but I think this was really amazing for you to do. And I’m sure you made a lot of people’s days. I hope you see this, or that someone who knows you sees this so they can tell you about it, because I really appreciated this small gesture from. Don’t stop being wonderful <3 Also I still don’t know what the envelope says :x So this is gonna be my quick-ish Otafest recap :) Friday: Couldn’t finish Fionna to wear, so I re-wore AppleJack, hopefully I can finish Fionna soon….or wait until I can afford to get a new sewing machine that doesn’t refuse to sew stretch fabric. Had a blast for the first day of the con, honestly I didn’t do much, had a super quick photo shoot with KL Media, and helped run Behfu and Jei’s Minute to Win It panel - all I was in charge of was getting all the supplies ready for each game but I had a blast. Hung out with Jei for the last little bit of the con that I stayed - went to go chill in all the rooms I’m not supposed to =P Also, got my first set of pins from Gareth, steampunk Seph and Aurora <3 So cute, I’m really happy the pins took off s well. Saturday: Got to break out my Steampunk Marceline finally :D (design by http://micaella.tumblr.com/). I was super excited to wear it (and hopefully not break it since I needed to wear it for Sunday as well). It was super well received which made me happy, I got a ton of photos of it which I can’t wait to see <3. I didn’t get around to doing too-much panel-wise, a friend from Edmonton came down for the weekend so I pretty much chilled with him all day. Had some photoshoots today as well :) I went home to around 5 ish to shower real quick and get changed out of Marcy just to rush back and try to hit up vendors before it closed/not in a stupid ridiculous costume to carry in tight spaces. I finally bought an Alpaca >.> He’s adorable so no regrets, also got Mom a lil trinket, but she doesn’t get that til her birthday later next month. Did catch the last half of Alfred’s foul bachelor frog panel, I didn’t really participate, but it was fun and full of giggles and way too much information. Hit up the anime rave with Sara, Alfred and Jei - it really wasn’t bad, but did end up with the four of us chilling in the green room listening to the music more-so than dancing Also bought the yukata Aurora pin, and got the volunteer one which I swear is the best one they made :) Oh! And me and Lauren K totally made a gang hand symbol for Otafest! (Which Gareth totally used in the big group shot of Umbrella, the execs, and patrons during closing ceremonies =P) Sunday: Last day of con! Thank heavens that Kale got to have the day off work and come down to Otafest, he’s my Marshall Lee. He came over in the morning and I got him ready for his first cosplay adventure! I was super super happy with how his cosplay fit him - I was a little worried since it always looked so funny when I tried it on or had it on my dress form while I was making it xP He only had tried it on only once before con day, but it fit him like a glove <3 I rushed us to cosplay showcase first thing after we got to the con - I was really happy to be entering it again since I didn’t enter last year at all. After judging it was a pretty chill, but busy day >.> had a lot more photos/videos to do. I really, really can’t wait to see Andy’s (OTL productions) video for Otafest this year, all the footage I’ve seen so far has looked amazing! Tyty came out for the last day and hung out with me too <3 I never get to see him enough xP We got to lining up for closing ceremonies late xP but it worked out since they started waaaay late, and luckily, I think Kale, his friend, and I got like the last three seats in the main room before they started putting people into over flow - it was just too bad I didn’t get to sit with them/my other friends :( Fast forward to cosplay showcase awards - I won first in expert this year! <3 I was super duper excited about it - got some nice swag; ribbon, certificate, $100 pre-paid master card, and the complete blu-ray animated Devil May Cry series. Also Ester (http://sweetestar.tumblr.com/) won first in Journeyman, so proud of her <3 and Kale’s friend, Drew (from lineup) won a Judges Choice.
All in all, had an amazing weekend, and a huge shout out to all my friends, Otafest execs/volunteers, and Otafest patrons who made this year so awesome, can’t wait til next year.<3 Woooooo!
